Job summary

Bentley School in Lafayette, CA, invites applications for a Part-Time Varsity Swimming Head Coach at the Upper School campus for the Spring 2027 season. Reports to the Director of Athletics and will lead planning, practices, and competitive preparation for both men’s and women’s teams.

We value strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and self-direction, with a commitment to the school’s culture and varsity program. This is a part-time, non-exempt, seasonal position on-site in Lafayette.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience at the high school and/or college level.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Desire to become part of the larger school athletic community.
• Must be able to work collaboratively as a team member.
• Must be self-directed.
• Time commitment - must be available for practices and games during weekday afternoons, evenings, holiday breaks and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Director of Athletics to develop the growth of the swim program.
• Serve as lead in overall planning and execution of the swim activities.
• Develop and implement game strategies.
• Lead in planning and organizing of team practice sessions.
• Coach team members individually and in groups as needed.
• Develop and implement a team strength & conditioning program.
• Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the culture of the school and athletic program.
• Manage and lead a coaching staff that includes assistant coaches.
• Adhere to all state, section, conference & league rules and regulations/policies.
• Build a positive relationship with all Bentley School community members.
• Be a mentor, both in baseball and in life.

Pay Range: $30-$40 per hour

Bentley seeks a Men’s and Women’s Varsity Swimming Head Coach at the Upper School campus in Lafayette for the Spring 2027 season.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to:

• Work directly with the Director of Athletics to develop the growth of the swim program.
