Job summary

Experience Senior Living is seeking a Memory Care Server to join our caring team in Lone Tree, Colorado. You will provide attentive, person-centered dining service for residents living with memory loss, set tables, take orders, and support meal selections with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

  • Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills are required.
  • Strong communication, listening, teamwork, and time-management skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in serving older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
  • Experience in memory care or senior living is preferred but not required.

We are looking for a Memory Care Server to join our amazing team!

The Memory Care Server will be responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and person-centered dining experience for residents living with memory loss. Sets and clears tables, supports residents in making meal selections, serves food and beverages accurately and promptly, and uses patience, reassurance, and appropriate cueing to promote comfort, dignity, independence, and enjoyment at every meal.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide attentive, person-centered service and promote a calm, welcoming dining atmosphere appropriate for residents living with memory loss.
  • Learn and honor each resident’s routines, preferences, abilities, and dining needs while treating every resident with dignity and respect.
  • Use clear, simple communication, visual prompts, gentle cueing, and positive redirection to help residents navigate the dining experience and make meal selections.
  • Observe verbal and nonverbal cues and respond patiently when a resident appears confused, anxious, distracted, or unable to communicate a preference.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef, Wellness team, and community leadership to support resident satisfaction, nutrition, hydration, and individualized dining needs.
  • Attend pre-meal stand-up and review resident preferences, allergies, diet orders, texture modifications, adaptive equipment, seating plans, and other service instructions before each meal.
  • Set tables and prepare the dining room in accordance with ESL standards, including placement of adaptive dining equipment when directed.
  • Present menu choices in a resident-friendly manner and accurately take, verify, and deliver food and beverage orders.
  • Confirm each resident’s identity and follow all approved diet, allergy, texture, portion, and beverage instructions.
  • Provide meal set-up, opening of containers, cutting of food, cueing, and other non-clinical assistance within the scope of the role. Provide hands‑on feeding assistance only when trained, authorized, and directed in accordance with the resident’s service plan and Company policy.
  • Monitor the dining environment for signs that a resident may need additional support, including coughing, choking, difficulty swallowing, refusal to eat or drink, unusual fatigue, distress, or a significant change in intake, and immediately notify the appropriate Wellness team member.
  • Maintain awareness of resident location and follow memory care safety, supervision, and secured‑neighborhood procedures. Promptly report unsafe conditions, missing residents, or other concerns according to Company policy.
  • Remove used or soiled plates, utensils, glasses, and linens as needed while minimizing disruption to residents.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, hand hygiene, and resident confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, menus, condiment containers, floors, and dining equipment in accordance with ESL standards.
  • Communicate resident preferences, successful approaches, concerns, and changes in eating or drinking patterns to the Executive Chef and Wellness team to support continuity of care and resident satisfaction.
  • Assist with special events, celebrations, theme meals, and family dining experiences in ways that are engaging and appropriate for residents living with memory loss.
  • Create a strong sense of teamwork and cooperation among Culinary, Wellness, Life Enrichment, and other community team members.
  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

  • Patience, empathy, flexibility, and a genuine interest in serving older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
  • Ability to recognize and promptly report changes in resident behavior, food or fluid intake, or ability to safely participate in meals.
  • Prior restaurant, senior living, healthcare, or memory care experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to complete required memory care, food safety, and resident safety training within established timeframes.
  • Connect with residents through warm, thoughtful engagement and help each resident feel known, safe, and welcome.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and community partners.
  • Remain calm, patient, and respectful when responding to repeated questions, confusion, resistance, or changes in resident behavior.
  • Provide consistent, individualized dining support that promotes resident choice, dignity, independence, nutrition, hydration, and enjoyment.
  • Follow resident‑specific dining directions accurately and protect resident privacy and confidentiality.
  • Handle multiple priorities while maintaining close attention to resident safety and service quality.
  • Communicate concerns promptly and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Abide by the Company uniform policy and all applicable safety, sanitation, and memory care procedures.
  • Ability to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
