Job summary

Grantmakers for Southern Progress seeks a Membership Manager to recruit and engage members who share the organization’s equity-centered mission. You will maintain the integrity of member relationships and ensure reliable communication to support the network’s goals in racial and gender equity.

You will partner with the director and steering committee to build infrastructure that enables funders to advance racial and gender equity and support southern communities through strategic investments.

• Experience creating/managing work for philanthropic audiences.
• Established relationships within the philanthropic community.
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
• Creative, enthusiastic, dependable, professional.
• Ability to collaborate with staff, members, partners, and grassroots leaders.
• Great attention to detail.
• 5+ years in membership and/or donor development.
• Experience in marketing and communications.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute recruitment plan for new members.
• Convert existing members to dues-paying members.
• Oversee application, onboarding, orientation, renewal for members.
• Identify prospective members, outreach, and manage relationships.
• Engage members to ensure participation and funding for the South.
• Increase participation and engagement of southern funders.
• Design/execute membership-wide events (meetings, webinars, etc).
• Serve as main contact for members; stay informed on interests and activities.
• Collaborate with Director to amplify members' work.
• Ensure alignment between program streams as a hub for the team.
• Provide planning support for bi-annual convening, funder briefings, strategy sessions, learning tours.
