YMCA of Southeastern NC is seeking a part-time Membership Desk Representative to deliver excellent service to members and guests. You will build relationships and handle membership inquiries while maintaining a welcoming lobby environment.

Job Title

Membership Desk Representative

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Deliver excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Respond to member and guest needs, promote memberships and programs, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby area and other areas as needed.

Essential Functions

• Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
• Conduct tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sell memberships.
• Build relationships with members; help members connect with one another and with the YMCA.
• Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Apply all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Previous customer service, sales or related experience.
• Basic knowledge of computers.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Safety Requirements

• CPR & First Aid: must be able to complete and maintain certification; assist individuals in need until professional help arrives.

• Incident Management: report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors.
• Safe Environment: maintain safe, clean, and hazard‑free environment for all staff, members, and participants.
• Physical Readiness: perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.
• Compliance: follow all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable.
