  • Proficiency in AI, Microsoft Word, Excel, and MailChimp; Salesforce familiarity is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Become expert in the ABT Style Guide for all member communications.
  • Prepare donor acknowledgement letters for review, signature, and mailing.
  • Ensure communications are sent to correct mailing and email addresses.
  • Assemble and send monthly ABT Member Newsletter.
  • Coordinate with Marketing on scheduling, reporting, and content of emails for consistency.
  • Create and send member-event invitations and reminders (dress rehearsals, in-studio visits, etc.).
  • Support fundraising campaigns with content and light video editing.
  • Create promotional materials for Membership Table and events.
  • Contribute to content and editing on the Riverside podcast platform.
  • Learn basics of WordPress and collaborate to edit Advancement web pages.
  • Collaborate on membership materials and bids for printing.

Job description

The Membership Associate is a key part of a three-person team that serves ABT’s 3,000 member-donors who contribute nearly $2 million annually. The Associate’s role is rooted in content generation related to direct mail, email, and telefunding solicitations, as well as communications about member events, all with the goal of building relationships and increasing net revenue. The Associate should expect to become proficient in using Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The role is best suited to a candidate with strong writing skills and familiarity with content marketing basics. Knowledge of ballet is a plus but not necessary. What is necessary is a willingness to learn how to deepen donor loyalty and how to steward dance-focused members by way of customer service on the phone, via email, and in person.

Specific Responsibilities
Content Creation and Messaging
  • With guidance from Membership Director, become expert in the ABT Style Guide and adhere to it for all member communication.
  • Working with Operations team, prepare donor acknowledgement letters for review, signature, and mailing.
  • Work to ensure communications are sent to correct mailing and email addresses.
  • Assemble and send monthly ABT Member Newsletter.
  • Coordinate closely with ABT’s Marketing department on scheduling, reporting, and content of emails so consistency is maintained between departments.
  • Create and send member-event invitations and reminder emails as needed, such as dress rehearsals, in-studio visits, and more.
  • Support content creation of fundraising campaigns, such as Fall and Spring, Year-End and others as needed. This can include video capture and light editing.
  • Create promotional materials for Membership Table and special events.
  • Contribute to content and editing on the podcast platform Riverside.
  • Learn basics of WordPress and collaborate with ABT personnel to edit Advancement web pages.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on membership materials, such as the seasonal Dancer Directory and member brochures. When needed, research bids on printing and ship to the selected printer.
Stewardship/Customer Service
  • Be among the first in line to answer the Membership phone calls and confidently answer questions about memberships, benefits, upgrades, and events.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to members via phone, email, and in person at the Membership Table during performance seasons.
  • This role has particular responsibility for attention to resubscribes or unsubscribes to our email lists, as well as cleanliness of data.
  • Greet and cultivate members during in-season and out-of-season events.
  • Contribute to telefunding plans as related to scripts or membership benefits.
Events
  • Coordinate with Special Events, Artistic and Membership staff to set up member-benefit events: dress rehearsals, private backstage tours, in-studio visits, and others as necessary. This includes collaborating with ABT staff on Junior Council events.
  • Participate in the planning and day-of execution of events that fulfill member benefits (listed above and additional events as necessary).
Data/Reporting
  • Working with Advancement Operations, become proficient in entering member data and learn basic reporting in Salesforce to support membership records and analysis.
  • Run reports related to engagement activity, such as email opens, attendance, and other metrics.
Essential Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience in content marketing, fundraising, events, or customer service or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to copy edit and abide by ABT Style Guide.
  • Must be extremely organized, attentive to detail, able to multi-task, and meet strict deadlines
  • Greet donors with a cheerful mindset and deliver excellent customer service, with the goal of developing a genuine rapport that supports a long-term relationship between the donor and organization.
  • Must work collaboratively and collegially within the Development department and across the organization interdepartmentally
  • Proficiency in AI, Microsoft Word, Excel, and MailChimp is required; Familiarity with databases, is beneficial; Candidate should expect to become skilled in Salesforce.
