Credit Union of Southern California (CU SoCal) is hiring a Member Service Officer I, Floater to support the Retail Support Team. You will cover the San Bernardino zone, including Covina, Fontana, Ontario, Pomona and Riverside, with Pomona as a base, and may transfer to other branches as needed.

The role requires flexibility to meet staffing needs and deliver member services; strong cash handling, sales skills, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6+ months cash handling experience in retail/service.
• 1+ years in member/customer service preferred.
• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• 3+ years experience in member/customer service desirable.
• Working knowledge of Symitar or similar banking systems.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Process new memberships and share accounts; verify member information and complete requests.
• Process consumer loan applications and communicate loan decisions.
• Build relationships by matching member needs to saving, lending, and convenience products; aim to meet sales goals.
• Handle member inquiries and resolve issues; perform account research as needed.
• Assist members with disputes, debit/ACH/Visa forms and maintain compliance.

We are hiring a Member Service Officer I, Floater to join the Retail Support Team. This role requires flexibility as the team member serves as a financial advisor and supports the Branch Operations division wherever coverage is needed.

The primary responsibility is to help meet staffing needs throughout the designated San Bernardino zone which includesCovina, Fontana, Ontario, Pomona, Riverside, and will be based out of our Pomona branch. As positions become available, this position may be reassigned to a regular branch position within the designated zone.

Business Hours

Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 5:30PM & Saturday 8:30AM - 1:30PM*

Based upon business needs, our positions may require working flexible hours, including Saturday, working at or transferring to a neighboring branch within a reasonable commuting distance.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months cash handling experience in retail / service industry.
• 1+ years of experience in Member / customer service.

Driving and Insurance Coverage Requirements

This role requires driving and must meet and maintain the following requirements:

• Hold a valid CA state driver’s license in good standing that is not actively suspended, revoked, or restricted.
• Have reliable personal transportation. Use of any means of public transportation or ridesharing services will not satisfy this requirement.
• Must maintain state liability auto insurance coverage with a minimum of 30/60/15 limits on the vehicle that will be used for work.
• Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in member / customer service environment.
• Working experience in a financial / credit union environment.
• Familiar with Symitar or other similar banking systems.
• Bilingual with fluency in English and Spanish to serve our Spanish speaking Members while conducting their banking business.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in applicable Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel, etc.)
• Good verbal and written communication skills in person and over the phone including good active listening skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing high-quality service to our Members and working as a team player.
• Ability to use strong knowledge of products, services, and branch operations.
• Good problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Processes new Memberships and additional share accounts; processes certificates. Counsels Members in person or by telephone regarding credit union policies; verifies Member information; completes Member requests within appropriate time limits; processes Debit Card requests.
• Processes consumer loan applications; provide general information on loan products and services and communicate consumer loan decisions.
• Develops relationships with Members by matching individual needs with the appropriate savings, convenience, and lending products/ services; expected to meet minimum sales goals as defined by the credit union and department.
• Handle Member inquiries. Performs research and corrects errors as needed on Members’ accounts.
• Performs basic account administration transactions. Has basic IRA knowledge, including opening, routine contributions, and closing IRA accounts.
• Performs any or all of the duties of a teller.
• Adhere to the service standards outlined by the credit union.
• Assist Members in completing dispute forms, including but not limited to Debit card, ACH, and Visa. Identifies and reports any suspicious behavior or suspected fraud activity.
• Adhere to credit union policies, operational controls, and regulatory procedures to ensure the safety and security of Member and credit union assets.
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services.
• Complete understanding and active application the C.A.R.E. 4 Guide expectations and the Brand Communications Standards Accountability Philosophy.
• Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Pay Scale: Min: $19.21 / Mid: $23.81 / Max: $27.63* an hour

Actual compensation will be based on geographical location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
