Rnb Consultancy in San Francisco is hiring a Platform Engineer to build and scale the core platform that runs multi-hour agent tasks. You will own pipelines, task execution, and the tooling used to create and validate tasks, focusing on reliability and observability for long-running jobs.

The role requires deep experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, and performance tuning, plus a track record of owning projects from start to finish in a startup environment. On-site in SF 9-9-6.

You've made long, fragile jobs reliable at scale. Set the infrastructure bar for a platform aiming at trillions of tokens a week.

This seed-stage San Francisco startup grows quickly: its engineers work inside engineering and life-sciences companies, it tests the automations they build with evals, and it sells the data and RL environments that come out of it to frontier AI labs. It already runs at an eight-figure revenue rate. You'd be roughly the seventh engineer, and this is the hire where the founders want high infrastructure standards rather than speed at any cost. You get to define them.

They're hiring 2 platform engineers.

What you'll own

• The platform behind multi-hour agent runs that span model APIs, remote sandboxes and background workers
• The pipelines that execute tasks, collect eval results and deliver datasets
• The tooling experts use to create and check tasks
• Reliability, observability and recovery for long-running jobs that fail in unexpected ways

Must-haves

• Deep production experience with distributed systems, data pipelines or performance tuning (backend work at the application level only isn't enough)
• Experience on a team with a very high engineering bar, or as an early engineer who built and scaled a startup's infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience, including at least one project you owned from requirements to release
• You work well on loosely defined problems without a spec
• Working from the San Francisco office, 9-9-6

Bonus points

• Agent, inference or eval infrastructure
• Kafka, Kubernetes or similar at scale
• Side projects and strong opinions on good infrastructure practice
