Job summary

Audubon Metals Texas is hiring a Melt Utility to operate and maintain the flow of finished products to shipping. You will monitor ingot releases, oversee air hammer and banding operations, perform quality inspections, and record product weights in the production system.

The role requires working on a 12-hour shift in a hot/cold environment with safety as a priority. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong math and communication skills, and the ability to use hand tools

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Monitor ingot releases from molds and maintain release intervals.
  • Oversee air hammer operation and ensure proper release.
  • Communicate failures to supervision immediately.
  • Perform visual quality checks and inspect ingots for non-conformances.
  • Measure and document weights and enter data into production system.
  • Operate manual ingot banding and automated sow line equipment.
  • Support safe work practices in a hot/cold industrial environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the release of ingots from respective molds as well as release intervals.
  • Oversee air hammer operation to ensure proper release.
  • Immediate communication of failed ingot releases to supervision.
  • Perform quality checks, such as visual inspection.
  • Proper use of hand tools to inspect ingots for non-conformances.
  • Verification of heat numbers to production schedule
  • Proper disposal and documentation of non-conforming products through data processing system.
  • Ensure the finished product is correctly weighed and information is input into the company production system.
  • Operation of manual ingot banding machine.
  • Operation of automated sow line- monitoring of control panels, preheaters, temperature controls, usage of auto modes, covering of molds, skimming molten sows, usage of water sprayers, monitor vacuum pressures, pulling sows, recording product weights in production system.
  • Operation of product to assigned warehouse locations.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Self-Starter – Possessing the ability to be innovative and/or creative in their job; capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Mobile Equipment – Capable of operating a Forklift.
  • Communication – Must be able to read, write legibly, and talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Math – Capable of completing basic math skills.
  • Visual Alertness/Attentiveness – Must be able to remain visually alert to surrounding in the department.
  • Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform essential duties in a work environment of temperature extremes.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time in a hot or cold environment. Standard shift is 12 hours.
  • Must be able to frequently move, lift, carry, push and pull materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, squat, sit, balance, twist at the waist & neck, and/or crouch to perform work over the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to function in a loud, dusty, hot, cold, or humid environment for the duration of theshift.
  • Must possess the ability to wear a respirator or dust mask, as needed.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and work on platforms at various heights.
  • Must be able to periodically work in a confined space.
  • Must be able to periodically watch product on a moving conveyor belt.
