MEI Rigging & Crating seeks a Safety Specialist II to support and sustain EHS programs across multiple sites. You will collaborate with leadership, conduct audits, training, incident investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
This role focuses on coaching, program development, and continuous safety improvement, with no direct supervision but strong mentorship across teams. Expect regular site visits and collaboration with occupational health providers.
The Safety Specialist II plays a key role in supporting, implementing, and sustaining environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace within the Rigging & Crating field. This position serves as a trusted safety resource across multiple sites, actively partnering with leadership, field personnel, and external regulatory agencies to foster a strong, proactive safety culture.
The Safety Specialist II is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplacehazards through routine audits, inspections, job hazard analyses, and incident investigations. This role provides both technical and administrative support for EHS programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, customer requirements, and internal safety standards. Through training delivery, coaching, and hands-on field engagement, the Safety Specialist II drives continuous improvement in safety performance, reduces workplace incidents and losses, and supports operational teams in integrating safety into daily work practices.
While this position does not have direct supervisory authority, it functions as a coach, mentor, and subject matter expert, supporting site leadership and project safety personnel. The Safety Specialist II also plays an active role in incident management, regulatory reporting, and collaboration with occupational health providers and insurance partners to support injury prevention and effective case management.
This position will frequently perform physical, hands-on work. A Safety Specialist II must be able to perform General Physical Activities - activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work off the ground at varying heights and not be affected by moving machinery or parts. Willing and able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors in all types of weather, and over uneven ground or terrain. Work will also be performed in a normal, climate-controlled office environment, and will frequently work in a seated position, including work at a computer; manual dexterity necessary and will use senses involving sight, touch, and audiological. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds may be necessary.
