Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. in Hartford, CT seeks a Claims Examiner, Casualty for the Middle Market Casualty Team to actively manage commercial casualty claims, including excess and umbrella policies, across the United States.

The role requires 3–5 years of casualty claims experience, a Bachelor's degree, active adjuster licensing, and strong communication and negotiation skills, with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proper & active adjuster licensing in all applicable states.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, and retain coverage counsel as needed.
• Develop and implement strategy relative to coverage issues.
• Develop and implement timely resolution strategies to mitigate indemnity and expense exposures.
• Maintain contact with claims staff, underwriter, defense counsel, and broker to communicate developments.
• Investigate claims and review insureds' materials and pleadings.
• Review jurisdictional statutes, rules, and case law.
• Review litigation materials including depositions and experts' reports.
• Analyze and direct risk transfer, additional insured and indemnity issues.
• Retain and direct counsel as necessary.
• Analyze coverage, liability and damages for reserves recommendations.
• Prepare and present reports to senior management.
• Travel to attend mediations, trials and other proceedings.
• Negotiate resolution of claims.
• Select and utilize structure brokers.
• Maintain a diary of all claims and respond to inquiries promptly.
