Job summary

City of Savannah is seeking a CDL-equipped equipment operator to maintain lanes, unpaved streets, and shoulders within city limits, operating heavy machinery and supporting the Crew Chief and team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of medium equipment operation and maintenance experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with an acceptable driving history.
• Background investigation and post-offer medical screen required.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and traffic control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment including flatbed trucks, tilt-bed trailers, dump trucks, backhoes, Bobcat loaders, and front-end loaders.
• Maintains and performs minor repairs on equipment; conducts washes and greases.
• Transports equipment to job sites and sets up traffic control devices.
• Conducts safety inspections and ensures sites comply with safety guidelines.
• Performs street construction and maintenance; maintains rights-of-way, streets, and sidewalks.
• Loads debris and moves materials as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

CDL Enhancement: Additional $10,000.00

This position is responsible for the maintenance of Lanes, Unpaved Streets, and shoulders within the city limits of Savannah by operating assigned construction equipment. Assists the supervisor and Crew Chief in unison with a crew in tasks and completion of assigned projects.

• Operates work-related equipment, flatbed trucks, tilt-bed trailers, dump trucks, backhoes, Bobcat track loaders, and front-end loaders.
• Maintains assigned equipment; completes minor repairs; washes and greases equipment.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with two (2) years of medium equipment operation and maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Additional Requirements

Background investigation, including a supervised drug screen, post-offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
