Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. is seeking a Medication Technician to provide direct resident care in a Georgia Island Retreat setting. You will administer medications, document care, and monitor residents’ health per the care plan under supervision.

Strong communication in English and CPR/First Aid certification are required; a GED or high school diploma is essential. The role involves maintaining the medicine room, records, and participating in audits while ensuring resident safety and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Current Medication Technician certification from a state-approved program.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certifications.
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Administers or assists with medications as prescribed by the health care provider.
  • Maintains residents' records daily and documents medication distribution and care notes.
  • Observes residents for health changes and reports to supervisor promptly.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room.
  • Provides direct resident care and supports residents as assigned.

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:To provide residents with services in accordance with health care provider’s orders regarding administration or assistance with medications and treatments, as per state regulations. Provides direct care to residents following the individualized service plan.RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in maintaining the physical, social, and psychological environment that supports the best interest and welfare of the residents.Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the performance of personnel tasks with the understanding that the responsibilities are not routine or limited to resident care matters. Maintains a clean, safe, environment in the community.As per state regulations and completion of required training/certification, administers or assists with self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider. Observes resident’s response to existing treatment plan, is aware of prominent medication interactions and side effects, and observes residents for occurrence of such and notifies supervisor.Adheres to community infection control policies and procedures.Maintains residents' records daily in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedure. This includes documentation related to medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents and observations, charting any changes in resident's physical condition and or behaviors, visitors, etc.Observes and documents the health and emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the supervisor.Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room.Receives reports on all residents.Completes an accurate accounting of all medications, including controlled substances as per policy.Assists with completion of medication cart audits per policy and direction of leadership.Provides direct resident care.Performs other duties as assigned.SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GEDCurrent Medication Technician certification from a state-approved programCurrent CPR/First Aid certificationsAt least 6 months experience in a similar roleDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Physical Demands include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, grasping, manual dexterity, stooping, kneeling, crouching, vision acuity, talking, and hearing. The weight determined to be appropriate for a Certified Medication Technician to lift with or without reasonable accommodations is up to 50 lbs.EXPOSURE RISK CLASSIFICATION:May perform unplanned tasks involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue which may contain AIDS, HIV, and Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses. Must be willing to work in an environment with potential infectious disease. Proper training and PPE will be required.
