Job summary

Discovery Senior Living seeks a Care Giver/Medication Technician to enrich residents' lives at our Carlsbad community. You will provide hands-on care, administer medications, and deliver support in a home-like environment, with duties that emphasize dignity, safety, and compassion.

Position is part-time/PRN, located at 5592 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92008, with a pay rate of $20–$23 per hour. Benefits and flexible scheduling are available to eligible staff.

Qualifications

  • Certified Nurse's Aide certification preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and demonstrate good judgment

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care and supervision for residents, assisting with activities of daily living.
  • Administer and observe medications in accordance with the Six Rights of Medication Pass, document accurately.
  • Monitor resident conditions and report changes in behavior, appetite, or participation in activities.
  • Engage residents in enrichment programs and life skills activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in resident rooms and common areas.
  • Respond promptly to resident call bells and safety systems.
  • Communicate with residents, families, supervisors, and healthcare staff regarding care needs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, infection control policies, and confidentiality.

Your Role

As the Care Giver/Medication Technician, your role includes providing hands-on care, administering medications, and offering physical and emotional support to residents while maintaining a safe and comfortable home-like environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide compassionate care and supervision for assigned residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, transferring, eating) while promoting dignity, independence, and safety.
  • Administer and observe medications and treatments in accordance with the Six Rights of Medication Pass, documenting accurately and reporting concerns promptly, including refusal of medications or missed doses
  • Monitor and record resident conditions, including changes in behavior, appetite, skin, and participation in activities.
  • Engage residents in enrichment programs and life skills activities to support overall well-being.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in resident rooms, community areas, and medication/treatment spaces.
  • Respond promptly to resident call bells and community security systems.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, supervisors, and healthcare staff regarding care needs and changes in condition.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, infection control protocols, and confidentiality policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
