Position: Care/Medication Technician

We are looking for a Care/Medication Technician to join our community at Summit Place on South Park. The role includes providing hands‑on care, physical and emotional support to each resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home‑like environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a designated group of residents during each shift, monitoring their well‑being and checking on them periodically.
  • Observe, report, and document resident symptoms and conditions, noting any changes in skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary intake, and participation in activities.
  • Respond promptly to security system alerts and resident call bells.
  • Notify supervisors or Health Care Coordinators if a resident’s care needs increase.
  • Assist withcontinence management, properly disposing of all continence products to maintain sanitation.
  • Serve and collect food trays, reporting refusals or loss of appetite.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and work areas.
  • Apply standard hygiene and safety precautions.
  • Promote resident independence, dignity, and physical safety.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating) as instructed.
  • Engage residents in life skills and enrichment activities.
  • Greet and assist internal and external customers, guests, family members, vendors, and team members.
  • Perform resident laundry as assigned.
  • Review service plans to learn pertinent resident information.
  • Observe and assist with medication administration using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
  • Document and initial medication administrations, including refusals or missed doses.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information, including medication details.
  • Report medication concerns to the Nurse or Health Care Coordinator.
  • Restock medication carts after each pass.
  • Assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
  • Count narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
  • Maintain the medication room, medication charts, and treatment carts, ensuring neatness, cleanliness, and medication availability.
  • Follow refill processes for medications.
  • Participate in service plan development and monthly updates.
  • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Certified Nurse’s Aid certification preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • First Aid certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
