Care Giver Responsibilities
- Responsible for a designated group of residents, checking on them during the shift.
- Observes, reports, and documents resident symptoms and changes.
- Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly.
- Notifies supervisor/Health Care Coordinator if a resident has increased care needs.
- Assists with continence management and disposal of products.
- Serves and collects food trays; reports refusals or appetite loss.
- Maintains cleanliness of resident rooms and work areas.
- Practices standard care precautions regarding cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
- Helps residents maintain independence and promotes dignity and safety.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, eating) as instructed.
- Engages residents in life enrichment activities.
- Greets and assists all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
- Performs resident laundry as assigned.
Medication Tech Duties
- Reviews residents’ service plans to familiarise with relevant information.
- Assists/observes medications and treatments using medication observation records and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Documents and initials medication administration including refusals or missed doses.
- Maintains confidentiality of all resident medication information.
- Reports all resident concerns related to medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator.
- Restocks medication cart after all medication passes.
- Assists in medication checking regardless of packaging system.
- Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse.
- Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, medication charts, and treatment carts.
- Follows re-fill process for medications.
- Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
- Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, respiration).
- Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Certified Nurse’s Aid certification preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- CPR Certification preferred.
- First Aid Certification preferred.
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
