Job summary

Avamere Keizer in Keizer, OR is seeking a Medication Technician to administer medications and provide direct resident care on an evening shift schedule (Thu-Mon EVE). This role supports memory care and assisted living residents.

You will pass meds per orders, document in the EMR, and coordinate with nursing staff and the pharmacy to ensure timely, accurate care. Experience in EMR documentation and a high school diploma are required, along with CPR/First Aid certification and a Food Handler's

Qualifications

  • Caregiver/Medication Tech experience in memory care or assisted living.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification during employment.
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler's Card.
  • Experience with electronic medical records documentation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Pass medications per physician orders and facility policy.
  • Record medications administered in the resident's record.
  • Notify pharmacy or family when medications need refills.
  • Maintain a clean and secure medication cart and room.
  • Monitor and report medication side effects to health services director.
  • Follow care plans related to medication administration.
  • Assist with medical appointments and communicate with healthcare providers.
  • Observe residents for health changes and monitor vital signs.

Medication Technician

Status: Full Time

Schedule: Thurs-Mon EVE Shift

Location: Avamere Keizer: 5210 River Rd North, Keizer, OR

The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
  • Pass medications according to physician orders and in accordance with facility policy.
  • Administer accurately and timely.
  • Record medications administered in the resident's record.
  • Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled.
  • Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
  • Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services.
  • Obtain/provide shift report. Record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
  • Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident's needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned.
  • Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents' needs
  • Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Document information pertaining to changes in residents' status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy
  • Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.
  • Participate in in-service education programs as assigned.
  • Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.
  • Follow written and oral directions.
  • Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.
  • Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision.
  • Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers.
  • Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain an active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
  • Must have the ability to obtain Food Handler's Card.
  • Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
