Job summary

Pee Dee Gardens is seeking a compassionate Medication Aide - SIC to support our clinical team in administering medications and providing specialized care to residents. This role involves accurate documentation, monitoring for side effects, and safe medication handling to ensure resident well-being.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and state certification as a Medication Aide preferred, with on-the-job training offered. Prior healthcare or senior care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed with accurate timing and documentation.
• Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with medical needs and assist with ADLs.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate medication records and report adverse reactions or errors.
• Resident Monitoring: Observe for side effects or changes in condition and communicate with the team.
• Medication Storage & Handling: Ensure safe storage in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work with nursing, physicians, and other staff to ensure quality care.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow regulations and protocols for medication safety and resident well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Medication Administration: Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.
• Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs, including assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely medication records and documentation, including reporting any adverse reactions or medication errors to the supervising nurse.
• Resident Monitoring: Monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition related to medication, notifying the healthcare team of any concerns or changes in their health status.
• Medication Storage & Handling: Ensure medications are stored safely and securely in compliance with state regulations and facility policies.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for residents.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow all regulations, guidelines, and protocols for medication administration and safety to ensure the highest standard of care.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• State certification as a Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in senior care or assisted living (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
