Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
• Tennessee Medication Aide competency exam certification required.
• Experience in senior resident services, health care or customer service preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with older adults and aging process preferred.
• Flexible work schedule required.

Responsibilities

• Administers prescribed medications to residents and maintains records under supervision of a licensed nurse or DON.
• Verify resident identity and document drug name, dosage and time of administration.
• Do not administer PRN meds without nurse assessment and authorization.
• Do not perform injections or treatments requiring assessment.
• Present medications and observe ingestion or application; administer as directed.
• Take vital signs and report adverse reactions to designated personnel.
• Document reasons for not administering prescribed drugs.
• May handle medication supply, restock inventories, and keep cart/room organized.
• Communicate with families, residents, and interdisciplinary team as appropriate.
• Complete shift reports and documentation per policy.
