Harris HealthCare in Manila, AR seeks a Medication Aide - Certified (MA-C) to administer medications, monitor residents, and provide personal care under the Nursing Department. This full-time role requires certification maintenance and adherence to facility policies.

The MA-C collaborates with the Director/Assistant Director and Charge Nurse, ensuring accurate MAR charts and timely documentation while maintaining resident safety and comfort.

Qualifications

  • Completed the State approved Nurse Assistant Class and Medication Aide Certification Class.
  • Maintain current certification as a Nurse Assistant and Medication Aide-Certified.
  • Sufficient documentation, typing and computer skills.
  • General understanding of the aging process and the changes associated with aging.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications according to state approved procedures and Harris HealthCare Policy and Procedures.
  • Administer medications only after identification of resident.
  • Chart each resident's medication as given. (DO NOT CHART IN ADVANCE OR WAIT UNTIL ENTIRE PASS IS COMPLETED.)
  • Verifies consumption of medication.
  • Do not leave medications at bedside, dining room table, or otherwise unattended.
  • Check for new medications and notes pertaining to changes in orders.
  • Check that labeled instructions and medication administration records have identical information.
  • PRN medications are given with the approval of the Charge Nurse.
  • Chart the reason for administering PRN medication and response to the medication.
  • All residents receive their medications at the times ordered.
  • Any omission is noted in the record and reported to the Charge Nurse.
  • All documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Assists in providing a safe environment for the residents. (Observes for spills on floor, appropriate use of restraints, bed rails, etc.)
  • Check and chart vital signs and report abnormal signs and symptoms to the Charge Nurse.
  • Answers call lights and perform resident’s personal care as needed.
  • Clean and disinfect items after each use of a resident.
  • Clean walkers, canes, furniture, shelves, and equipment PRN.
  • Report any necessary repairs to be done to the Charge Nurse.

Definition: The Medication Aide - Certified (MA-C) is part of and functions in the context of the Nursing Department. The MA-C is responsible to administer medications, check vital signs, and perform resident personal care and other nursing duties as directed by the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Charge Nurse.
