Position Highlights

A Brief Overview

Accountable for preparing, administering, and documenting medication administration in accordance with established policy and procedure under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Provides age-appropriate personal care to residents and maintains a sanitary, orderly and attractive environment.

What You Will Do
  • Provide assistance to residents with activities of daily living.
  • Perform routine and non-routine duties directed by nursing staff, including bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, repositioning, toileting, serving and collecting food trays, encouraging/assisting with feeding, answering call lights, maintaining a clean environment, transporting patients upon admission and dismissal, assisting with ambulation, and orienting residents to the facility.
  • Take blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, and weight; document concise and factual information on the appropriate forms.
  • Assist residents in performing specific medical care activities per policy and procedure to support the patient’s plan of care, including restorative exercises and specimen collection; assess and document completed care and provide feedback to nursing staff regarding status, pain management, and other concerns.
  • Assist with restocking supplies and maintaining an appropriate work environment, including cleaning procedures.
  • Participate in providing emotional and spiritual support to families.
  • Comply with resident rights, including confidentiality and privacy; report all allegations of resident abuse or misappropriation of property.
  • Follow established policies related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control procedures, and hazardous and chemical communication program, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Prepare, administer, and document medication administration in accordance with policy under the supervision of a licensed nurse; document reasons for non-administration of prescribed medication and report to charge nurse.
Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the specified hours and perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including visual acuity, effective communication, hearing, understanding, and distinguishing speech and sounds. Required Education, License/Certification, Or Work Experience
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – active license in the state of practice within 120 days
  • Medication Aide – active license in the state of practice within 120 days
Preferred Education, License/Certification, Or Work Experience
  • Less than 1 year of experience in Long Term Care, housekeeping, dietary, laundry, or activities
