Job summary

Trustwell Living, LLC is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to provide direct resident care per individualized care plans in a Washington state community. You will monitor conditions, document changes to Health Services Director, and assist in supervising resident assistants.

Responsibilities include medication administration, storage, and training participation, with emphasis on safety, confidentiality, and compassionate care. This role reports to Health Services Director/Charge Nurse.

Qualifications

  • Keen ability to communicate effectively with residents and team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Physically able to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with medications as ordered by physician(s).
  • Document all medication management functions per regulation and community protocols.
  • Obtain, receive, and store medications from pharmacy.
  • Participate in medication training and demonstrate competency.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness in the medication storage area.
  • Assist residents with daily activities and prepare for meals and snacks.
  • Record vital signs, weight, and other observations; report changes promptly.
  • Respect Residents’ Rights and report any complaints or incidents to supervision.
  • Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes; inventory possessions.
  • Follow universal precautions and safety rules; proper charting and reporting.

Education

High School education preferred
12+ years of education preferred
Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability

Position Responsibilities


  • Assist residents with medications as ordered by their physician(s).

  • Documents all functions related to medication management as required by regulation, and by community protocols as defined in the medication training program.

  • Obtains, receives, and stores medication(s) from pharmacy.

  • Participates in the medication training program and demonstrates competency per the competency checklist.

  • Maintains order, cleanliness in medication storage area.

  • Assist residents with daily bath, dressing, grooming, dental care, bowel and bladder functions, preparation for activities within the community, reminders of medical appointments, and basic room care.

  • Provide functions as directed by supervisor including daily and ongoing records including vital signs, weight, and measure residents, and observe and report presence of skin breakdowns; review care plans daily; report changes in resident conditions to supervisor; and record all necessary charting entries and report all accidents and incidents.

  • Prepare residents for meals and snacks and perform after-meal resident care.

  • Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect; know and comply with Residents’Rights rules; and promptly report all resident complaints, accidents, and incidents to supervisor.

  • Assist as directed in proper admission, transfer and discharge of residents, inventory resident possessions and report defective equipment to administration.

  • Understand and use Universal Precautions and follow established infections control, hazardous communication, and other safety rules; ensure cleanliness of assigned residents’ rooms; properly maintain and record resident restraints; and promptly report all violations of safety and sanitation rules to supervisor.

  • Attend and participate in orientation, training, educational activities, and staff meeting.

  • Any other tasks, assignments, projects, or requests as deemed by management.

  • Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks; requires minimal supervision

  • Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action.

  • Displays ability/willingness to learn new skills and to teach others.

  • Interacts in professional manner with Residents, public and co-workers. Works cooperatively with management. Displays willingness to assist co-workers when situation requires.

  • Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability; able to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly.

  • Is free of non-treated communicable disease.

  • Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.

  • Ability/willingness to follow all policies and procedures.

  • Is neat, accurate, dependable and keeps work/space clean.

  • Ability/willingness to work longer than eight (8) hour shift, to work holidays or overtime, to work seven (7) day schedule.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly.

  • Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching, and stooping.

  • High School education preferred.

  • Must be able to squat, reach, stretch without distress, Must be able to tolerate extended periods walking, standing.


Training And Experience

Completion of Qualified Medication Aide program with current license. 18 – 24 months experience in a similar position, CPR/First Aid certified preferred.


Education

Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred. Attendance at mandatory in-service training. Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
