Peaceful Pines Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Medication Aide to support residents across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. You will administer prescribed meds, assist with daily living activities, and document care with compassion and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a Registered Nurse per state regulations.
• Ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery and documentation in MAR.
• Monitor residents for effects and communicate changes to nursing leadership.
• Coordinate with nursing staff to support continuity of care.
• Maintain proper storage and security of medications per policy.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and daily living tasks as trained.
• Support resident dignity, independence, and meaningful daily experiences.

Job description

The Medication Aide plays an essential role in supporting residents' health, comfort, and daily experience across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. This position is responsible for administering medications and assisting with daily living activities while ensuring care is delivered with compassion, dignity, and respect for each resident in Assisted Living and Memory Care.

The Medication Aide supports not only clinical outcomes, but also emotional well-being, independence, and meaningful daily living-helping residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations.
• Ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery following all policies and procedures.
• Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, and overall response.
• Communicate any medication-related concerns, changes, or follow-ups to nursing leadership.
• Coordinate with nursing staff to support continuity of care and medication management.
• Accurately document medication administration and treatment completion in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and other required documentation systems.
• Maintain Security, accountability, and proper storage of medications in accordance with state regulations and community policy.

Resident Care

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including eating, bathing, dressing, and mobility.
• Provide snacks and supplements, encourage hydration, and assist with feeding as trained and needed.
• Perform care responsibilities that promote residents' safety, comfort, dignity, choice and independence.
• Support routines and preferences that reflect each resident's personal lifestyle and choices.
• Approach every interaction with patience, kindness, empathy, and respect.
• Utilize person-centered and dementia-informed care techniques to support residents experiencing cognitive impairment, confusion, anxiety, or behavioral expressions.

Resident Experience & Engagement

• Answer call lights and pendant systems promptly and respond to resident needs with urgency and compassion.
• Promote meaningful interactions during care-not not just task completion.
• Encourage resident participation in daily activities, dining, and social opportunities.
• Observe resident mood, behavior, and engagement, recognizing changes that may impact well-being.
• Contribute to an environment where residents feel seen, heard, and valued.

Documentation & Communication

• Accurately document outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and culinary services.
• Communicate changes in condition, behavior, or care needs promptly to the nursing leadership team.
• Maintain clear, timely, and consistent communication with team members across shifts.
• Ensure all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.

Team Collaboration & Culture

• Promote and support a positive work environment.
• Work closely with nursing, care staff, culinary, and life enrichment teams to support the full resident experience.
• Contribute to a culture where care is person-centered, respectful, and relationship-driven.

• Maintain confidentiality of all resident and staff health and personal information.
• Follow all Peaceful Pines policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
• Adhere to OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control and safety practices.
• Ensure care is delivered in a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
• Recognize and report safety concerns, incidents, or changes in condition promptly.

General Requirements

• Must submit to a TB test in accordance with state regulations.
• Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Must maintain confidentiality of resident and organizational information.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to respond effectively to resident needs in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed in the state of South Dakota as a Medication Aide (or willingness to complete on-the job training if not currently licensed).
• Passion for working with seniors and/or caring for others.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and service-minded.
• Ability to provide care with patience, empathy, and attention to detail.
