Job summary

Kingsbridge House in Brevard, North Carolina is seeking a compassionate Medication Aide to support our clinical team in administering medications and providing specialized care to residents. The role emphasizes accurate documentation, resident monitoring, and collaboration with nursing staff to ensure safe and effective treatment plans.

Ideal candidates will have a state Medication Aide certification (preferred) and prior healthcare experience in senior living.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • State certification as Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.
  • Previous healthcare experience, especially in senior care, is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety, and infection control.
  • Excellent communication with residents, families and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Medication Administration: administer medications as prescribed, with proper dosage, timing and documentation.
  • Specialized Care Support: assist residents with ADLs and individualized care.
  • Documentation & Reporting: maintain accurate medication records and report adverse events.
  • Resident Monitoring: observe for side effects or condition changes and notify team.
  • Medication Storage & Handling: ensure safe, compliant storage of medications.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: work with nurses and physicians for optimal care.
  • Compliance & Safety: follow regulations and protocols for safe medication administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.

  • Specialized Care Support: Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs, including assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely medication records and documentation, including reporting any adverse reactions or medication errors to the supervising nurse.

  • Resident Monitoring: Monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition related to medication, notifying the healthcare team of any concerns or changes in their health status.

  • Medication Storage & Handling: Ensure medications are stored safely and securely in compliance with state regulations and facility policies.

  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for residents.

  • Compliance & Safety: Follow all regulations, guidelines, and protocols for medication administration and safety to ensure the highest standard of care.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • State certification as a Medication Aide preferred, on-the-job training available.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in senior care or assisted living (preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control practices

  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members

  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
