Job summary

The UVA Health Medication Access Technician role offers a hybrid work arrangement with an initial on-site training period.   • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: 6 months minimum relevant experience required.
  • Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required; CPhT through NHA or PTCB required.

  • Conduct benefit investigations and determine patient coverage options.
  • Submit, track, and manage prior authorizations.
  • Coordinate insurance appeals and resolve medication access barriers.

Please note that this position has an initial on-site training/competency period that is anticipated for the first 6 months of employment. While this specific position does offer a hybrid work arrangement, additional on-site duties may be required by the manager in line with UVA Health's remote work guidelines.

The Role

As a Medication Access Technician, you will serve as a key liaison between patients, providers, pharmacists, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers to ensure patients receive the medications they need. This is a highly autonomous, computer-based role that combines pharmacy knowledge, insurance navigation, and patient advocacy in a fast-paced specialty pharmacy environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent required.

Experience: 6 months minimum relevant experience required.

Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The pay range for this role is $20.68 - $32.05 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
