Qualifications

• Four-year college accounting degree with knowledge of accounting theory and financial systems.
• Graduate degrees in healthcare/business studies preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of governmental programs (Medicare and Medicaid).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time to meet concurrent deadlines.
• Maintain professionalism in all interactions.
• Excellent advanced Excel skills.
• 4 years' experience in hospital or intermediary settings.
• Experience using HFS software.
• Knowledge of Wage Index, Medical Education, Organ Transplant, Medicare & Medicaid DSH, Charity Care and Bad Debts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the annual Medicare/Medicaid cost reports for hospitals and related statements.
• Assist with amended reports, reopening reports, and Medicare/Medicaid settlement audits, and wage index reviews.
• Prepare the Champus reports for all hospitals at completion of annual Medicare cost reports to obtain payments for capital and education costs.
• Prepare Medicaid UC/DSH applications and reconciliations for each hospital per Texas guidelines.
• Prepare Trauma applications for trauma-designated hospitals per state guidelines.
• Prepare departmental components of the annual Community Benefits and AHA Surveys.
• Submit to hospital liaison for timely filing.
• Provide information related to special projects for Director of Reimbursement and Manager of Regulatory Compliance.
• Stay aware of changing Medicare and Medicaid regulations and cost reporting instructions.
• Monitor state and federal regulations related to 1115 Waiver Programs.
• Analyze impacts of regulatory changes on program payment for the system.
• Monthly accounting entries and annual settlement analyses for Medicaid Supplemental Programs.
