Job summary

Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Medical Value Liaison to support medical affairs in the U.S., focusing on population health discussions, health economics, and real-world evidence to inform formulary decisions.

The MVL will engage with decision-makers across health systems, payers, and agencies, coordinating with Value & Access and Reimbursement teams while traveling up to 50–70% to cover geographic territories.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in the sciences (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, RN, or equivalent).
  • 2–3 years of field-based medical experience with U.S. payer or health system customers.
  • HEOR experience in oncology, neurology, or rare disease.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first-line Ipsen medical point of contact for high-priority customer bases including PHDMs for Health Systems, integrated delivery networks, commercial payers, state and federal agencies, and specialty pharmacies.
  • Collaborate with Value & Access, Corporate Accounts, and Reimbursement teams to identify and engage healthcare decision makers within each account.
  • Develop and execute a strategic account plan for each priority account, defining goals and identifying engagement opportunities.
  • Communicate scientific and health outcomes information to PHDMs, including product information, treatment guidelines, reimbursement strategies, and quality measures to advance formulary decision-making.
  • Maintain and respond to medical information requests and gather insights from PHDMs about disease states, treatment pathways, and research interests.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare environment, including policy, quality priorities, and the evolving HIT landscape.
  • Act as an external scientific resource and identify partnership opportunities that align external stakeholder needs with Ipsen resources.
  • Partner efficiently with Field Medical matrix partners and internal experts to meet specialized therapeutic expertise needs.
  • Represent Ipsen at medical and population health congresses and scientific conventions.

Overview

The Medical Value Liaison (MVL) is a field-based member of the U.S. Medical Affairs team who engages with population health decision-makers (PHDMs), external experts, and other professionals across the healthcare ecosystem. The MVL focuses on discussions regarding scientific evidence, health economics, outcomes research, real‑world data, quality strategies, and patient‑centered outcomes to support Ipsen’s mission to improve patient outcomes through informed, evidence‑based decision‑making.

Knowledge & Experience (Essential)
  • 2–3 years working in a field‑based medical role with U.S. payer or health system customers, or within a managed care environment.
  • Relevant scientific and/or HEOR experience in oncology, neurology, or rare disease.
  • Excellent planning, presentation, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time‑management and independent work skills; proven ability to collaborate across commercial and medical matrix teams.
  • Understanding of healthcare policy and observational research methodologies, including real‑world evidence and comparative effectiveness research.
  • Knowledge of PhRMA, OIG, and related compliant medical communication guidelines.
  • Fundamental understanding of clinical research and the regulatory environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision‑makers.
  • Experience thriving in a dynamic, fast‑changing environment.
Knowledge & Experience (Preferred)
  • Residency and/or post‑doctoral training in a pharmaceutical industry, health system, or payer setting.
  • Specialization in payer or health system, health outcomes, pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology, health policy, pharmacy, healthcare quality, population/public health, or health administration.
Education / Certifications (Essential)
  • Doctoral level in the sciences (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, RN, or equivalent).
Education / Certifications (Preferred)
  • PharmD, PhD, MS, or MPH with an active U.S. license (if applicable).
Language(s) (Essential)
  • Fluent in English.

Travel: Approximately 50–70% depending on geographic territory.

Compensation: Annual base salary range $190,000–$230,000. Eligible for short‑term and long‑term incentive programs.
