JOB SUMMARY: Provide supervision of daily and business operations of Medical Unit staff and all service lines within the Medical Unit structure. This includes Withdrawal Management, Inpatient, and Residential, Outpatient medical services to clients to achieve the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan. This is accomplished through managing all aspects of quality, service and financial functions of the Medical Unit. Provides the administrative support in planning, leading, organizing, coordinating and controlling the functions of the Medical Unit in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Director of Operations. Uphold standards of clinical practice and assure coordination of patient care with the multi-disciplinary team. Assure adherence to state statutes and rules, CARF standards, and federal regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Positively represents the organization and promotes Rimrock’s Mission to the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Collaborates and assists in implementation and adherence to all policies and procedures set forth by Rimrock and other regulatory organizations.
- Assist with QI data collection and monitors for medication errors. All errors are entered as QI data and reviewed with Risk Management.
- Assist with identifying annual Risk Management measures and report on them quarterly
- Develops care standards, coordinates team activities, and provides direction to ensure effective patient care.
- Actively playa s major role in decision-making processes and serves as a bridge between the nursing staff and departments.
- Assists and implements plans regarding nursing process and evaluates all nursing and medical unit staff’s activities.
- Manages all aspects of electronic medical record and medication administration record according to all Rimrock policies and procedures and all regulatory organizations.
Leadership and Supervision
- Oversee daily operations of the Medical Unit
- Interviewing, hiring and performing departmental orientation of staff.
- Coordinate maintaining supply chain and assure quality and appropriateness of formulary.
- Supervise and seek input for evaluations of Lead RN, Staff RN, LPN and CNA/MA
- Schedule nurses and CNA/MA to assure adequate coverage at all times.
- Monitors staff overtime hours and performs overstaffing if necessary due to low client numbers
- Coordinate clinical in-services for nursing staff and conduct monthly staff meetings. Mentors all Medial Unit staff for teamwork and professional nursing collaboration.
Planning and Coordination of client care
- Works in a professional manner and has a collaborative practice between all members of the multi-disciplinary team in coordinating cares for inpatient, residential and outpatient clients.
- Ensure the coordination of clinical care within the multidisciplinary team to include but not limited to pharmacy relations, lab and other medical support services.
- Responsible for handing client questions and complaints sent via Client communication form and actively works with other for quick resolution of client concern. Evaluates and implements assistance in planning to review and change items clients request via Client communication form.
- Ensure ongoing medical monitoring of patients is completed by clinical staff and assure the health status and needs of patients are known and attended to by staff.
- Work with Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to monitor controlled drugs and all systems that are actively used for medication management. Ensures all of the medication practices and tasks are following federal and state pharmacy regulations and policies and procedures set forth by Rimrock
- Ensures proper storage and handling of medications on the Medical Unit.
- Assure documentation standards are met on all patient’s medical records

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Minimum of three years in operation management preferably healthcare, psychiatric or addiction medicine; and minimum of one-year previous supervision experience preferred. Active Registered Nurse licensure with State of Montana Board of Nursing
SKILLS: Public speaking, supervision; planning; scheduling; coordination; controlling; leadership. Computer skills and proficiency in, but not limited to Microsoft software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is indoors in an office environment with moderate noise. Intermittent physical effort involving lifting of up to 25 pounds, walking and stooping is required. A typical workday involves sitting, frequent use of a keyboard, reaching with hands and arms, and talking and hearing, approximately 70% of the time. Approximately 50% or less of the time is spent standing. Normal vision abilities required, including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/JOB LOCATIONS: Involves everyday risk or discomfort requiring normal safety precautions in a medial setting, meeting room and patient care areas. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens. Some driving required. Generally requires concentration and attention to detail. Will work primarily in main facility.
