Job summary

St Anthony Hospital is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) to support patient care under RN direction. You will provide basic care, assist with transport, and contribute to the patient’s care plan as a vital part of our interdisciplinary team.

The role requires completion of an accredited CNA program and WA CNA certification, with BLS/ CPR at hire; military medical training may be considered. This on-site position values service, communication, and a commitment to high-quality healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients, equipment and supplies for procedures; provides personal care, hygiene, feeding, mobility and comfort.
  • Monitors, reports, and documents clinical activities; notes changes in patient condition to RN; transports samples as needed.
  • Assists with patient admission, discharge and transfer; orients patient/family and transports patient within the facility.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment; orders and replenishes supplies; reports equipment issues.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), you will be a cornerstone of patient care, directly contributing to comfort, safety, and recovery by providing essential support under RN direction. Every day, you will deliver compassionate basic care, assist with patient transport, and actively contribute to the patient's plan of care as a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, upholding the highest standards of conduct and patient well-being. To be successful in this role, you will possess a dedicated spirit of service, strong communication skills, a meticulous approach to patient support, and an unwavering commitment to our mission of dignified, high-quality healthcare.

  • Prepares patient, equipment and supplies for specific procedures/examinations. Provides patient personal care/hygiene and physical comfort, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothes, bed making, ambulation, lifting, turning, moving, transferring, skin care and bowel/bladder elimination. Provides such additional care as required to meet the personal primary needs and comfort of assigned patient based on skill, ability, limitations of scope of practice and patient acuity.
  • Performs, monitors, reports and documents all clinical activities within scope of practice. Observes and reports changes in patient condition to the RN. Obtains labels and transports a variety of samples (e.g. urine, stool, sputum specimens and blood products). Provides patient information to nursing staff for inclusion in the interdisciplinary plan of care; documents relevant patient data in accordance with work unit standards.
  • Assists nursing staff in the admission, discharge and transfer of patient by performing activities such as inventory/storing patient belongings, providing patient with relevant personal care/comfort items, orienting patient/family and transporting patient to room or other location using wheelchairs, stretchers or patient bed.
  • Maintains a neat and organized work environment. Orders, stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary, identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment; enters equipment repair request in system, tags equipment and removes from service.
  • Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.
  • Participates in quality assurance/improvement initiatives and activities as requested. Participates in growth opportunities.
