Job summary

Billings Clinic in Miles City, Montana, invites a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our busy laboratory. You will perform moderate complexity testing, ensure quality control, and report results to support patient care in a community hospital setting.

This full-time MLS position offers a day shift, a sign-on bonus up to $7,500, relocation assistance, tuition loan repayment, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, or a closely related life science
• ASCP, AMT or equivalent certification will be considered - At hire

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate complexity clinical laboratory testing in one or more sections of the laboratory with responsibility for quality control and quality assurance in accordance with CLIA requirements.
• Responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting of test results.
• Follows procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results.
• Evaluates, interprets and validates test data; identifies problems that may affect performance and notifies supervisor when needed.
• Maintains daily operations of the laboratory/department including calibration and maintenance of equipment and inventory; documents corrective actions when tests deviate.

Shift: Day
Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)
Hours per Pay Period: 0.90 = 72 hours every two weeks (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $33.66 - 42.07
This position may be eligible for a $7,500 sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and tuition loan repayment.

The clinic Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is responsible for performing moderate complexity clinical laboratory testing in one or more sections of the laboratory with full responsibility for quality control and quality assurance in accordance with CLIA regulatory requirements and standards.

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
• Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient's results.
• Evaluates, interprets and validates moderate complexity test data prior to reporting. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or immediately notify the Clinical Coordinator and/or, Laboratory Supervisor. Responsible to adhere to and follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever testing systems are not within the laboratory's defined acceptable levels of performance.
• Maintains daily operations of the laboratory/department to include, but not limited to calibration and maintenance of equipment; maintains adequate working inventory. Adheres to quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, or a closely related life science
• Certifications and Licenses: ASCP, AMT or equivalent certification will be considered - At hire
