Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Laboratory, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, seeks a Medical Technologist to join its laboratory team. The role involves performing diagnostic tests across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank and Microbiology, using analyzers and microscopes to provide detailed results that guide patient care.

The candidate will work part-time during the evening shift, with per diem responsibilities and a weekend/holiday rotation, supporting high-quality diagnostics in a patient-centered

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology is required.
• Baccalaureate in biology/chemistry or 30 semester hours in biology/chemistry/medical sciences with certification prerequisites.
• Master's or doctorate in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic laboratory tests across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank and Microbiology.
• Operate microscopes, analyzers and computers to generate accurate lab results.
• Work independently in assigned areas while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Description

Mercy Fitzgerald, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Medical Technologist to join our Laboratory team! A Medical Technologist conducts diagnostic laboratory tests that are important in detecting, analyzing and treating a wide variety of diseases and medical conditions. A medical Technologist uses microscopes, chemicals, precision tools, analyzers and computer equipment to perform tests that give doctors and patients detailed information about various conditions, including the progress and prognosis of the patient. A Medical Technologist performs standard laboratory procedures consistently providing high quality patient care. A Medical Technologist is able to work independently in assigned areas (Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology
• Baccalaureate degree with a major in biological science or chemistry, or baccalaureate degree with a combination of 30 semester hours of biology, chemistry and/or medical sciences, AND meet the training and/or experience requirements for the specific certification
• Master’s or doctorate in chemistry, biology, immunology, immunohematology, microbiology, allied health, clinical laboratory sciences or an appropriately related field (preferred)
• Possess or be eligible for Technologist certification (BB, C, CG, CT, H, HTL, MLS, M, MB) by ASCP
• With Bachelor's; MT (ASCP) certification or eligible.
• Certified as MT (HEW)
• Certified as MT (AMT)
