UW Health in Madison is seeking a Medical Technologist - Molecular Diagnostics to join our clinical laboratory team. You will perform testing in all complexity levels, troubleshoot, and assist with teaching duties while collaborating with physicians and staff to ensure accurate results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree must include 60 semester hours with specified medical lab courses.
• Certification as CLS/MLS preferred.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing in the clinical laboratories (any complexity).
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution.
• Demonstrate strong decision-making and ability to work independently.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinic staff and co-workers.

Skills

2 years clinical laboratory experience

3 years preferred

Education

Bachelor's Degree in chemical/physical/biological/clinical lab science

60 semester hours or equivalent with specified content

CLS degree preferred

Job description

Work Schedule:

Part-time, 80% FTE Monday -Friday dayshift, rotating weeknight/weekend/holiday call requirements. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Pay:

This position may be eligible for a $6400.00 sign-on bonus (pro-rated based on FTE).

Additional compensation may include:

• Evening and night shift differential
• Weekend differential
• Relocation assistance may be available for qualified applicants

Play an essential role in the quality and safety of patient care, performing a wide range of procedures that assist our providers with the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients and their health needs.

We are seeking a Medical Technologist -Molecular Diagnostics to:

• Perform testing in the clinical laboratories (any complexity).
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution.
• Demonstrate strong decision-making skills, ability to work independently, and the ability to take on teaching/training responsibilities as needed.
• Work as an effective team member as demonstrated by good relations with physicians, clinic staff and co-workers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology - Required or
• Bachelor's Degree must include minimally 60 semester hours or equivalent, that includes either: 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses OR 24 semester hours - 6 chemistry, 6 biology and 12 chemistry, biology, medical laboratory technology in any combination - Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) - Preferred
• Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MLS) or related science or healthcare field - Preferred

Work Experience

• 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory with emphasis on skills related to work area - Required
• 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory with emphasis on skills related to work area - Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

Certification (Medical Laboratory Scientist, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Technologist in Blood Bank, Molecular Biology) by the board of American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent - Preferred
