Job summary

Mount Carmel is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist or MLT for the daytime shift in Ohio. You will perform phlebotomy and laboratory testing, report results quickly, and ensure quality control and safety standards are met.

Eligible candidates hold a Baccalaureate in Medical Technology or an Associates in MLT with ASCP certification or equivalent. Compensation includes a sign-on bonus up to $5,000 for qualified candidates, with a strong benefits package and opportunities for professional development.

• Certification by ASCP or equivalent, active or eligible.
• Must maintain active certification if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and laboratory testing in the assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs quality control testing and maintains safety procedures.
• Maintains instrumentation and coordinates with supervisor on new reagents or equipment.
• Performs maintenance of laboratory equipment and adheres to universal precautions.

Position Purpose

The Medical Technologist performs phlebotomy and laboratory testing. Has knowledge of the clinical significance of results, monitors and understands operation of instrumentation, and reports results accurately and rapidly.

• This position will work 5 days a week from 6:00am - 2:30 pm; Monday - Friday with every other weekend rotation.

What You'll Do

• Performs all clinical testing in assigned department.
• Records and reports test results accurately and promptly.
• Performs and interprets quality control testing following established guidelines.
• Maintains a high level of quality assurance.
• Practices established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment.
• Able to recognize a problem by following prescribed strategies and make necessary corrections.
• Where no present criteria for decisions are available, will consult with supervisor/manager. In absence of supervisor/manager, will act to determine final decision.
• Coordinates and evaluates new reagents, procedures and equipment as requested by supervisor/manager.
• Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related field or Associates Degree in MLT - Required
• Licensure / Certification: Certification from American Society of Clinical Pathologists, equivalent; eligible for certification.
• If applicable, must maintain active certification.
• Experience: Preferred, but not required.
