Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a skilled Microbiology professional for the CC017060 department in South Florida. The role focuses on shift communication, quality control, specimen prioritization, and corrective action to ensure accurate patient results.

Responsibilities include maintaining supplies, documenting deviations, teaching staff, and covering shifts as needed. Florida licensure, 3–5 years in the specialty, and strong safety practices are required.

Qualifications

• Licensed by the State of Florida (or eligible) in appropriate specialties - national certification preferred.
• Education commensurate with licensure requirements.
• Experience 3-5 years in specialty.

Responsabilités

• Communicates at shift change and follows through on pending orders or problems from previous shift.
• Performs, compiles and documents Quality Control.
• Reports significant deviations to the manager.
• Documents corrective action.
• Organizes work to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Determines specimen acceptability and priority, taking action accordingly.
• Maintains a minimum inventory of supplies/reagents to ensure adequate patient care.
• Recognizes and takes corrective action when equipment failure occurs to minimize delays.
• Calls and documents critical values or alert levels per department policy.
• Follows laboratory policy on PPE, waste disposal, and sharps.
• Consults the manager or charge tech to determine course of action when unusual situations occur.
• Provides assistance to co-workers and works alternative shifts as needed.
• Teaches and trains staff as assigned.
• Performs charge tech duties in the absence of the manager.
• Performs competency testing as assigned.
• Addresses instrument flags prior to release of patient results.
• Monitors delta checks and takes action accordingly.
• Reviews worklists throughout the shift and addresses pending items.
• Cleans and decontaminates workstation and disposes of specimens and reagents appropriately.
