Job summary

Central Ohio Primary Care in Westerville, OH is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform all phases of pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical testing, including preparing slides and phlebotomy.

You will work Monday–Friday with some 7am–3:30pm shifts; duties include instrument calibration, quality control, routine maintenance, and ensuring accurate results while maintaining patient confidentiality and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current medical terminology related to laboratory medicine.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and testing for quality control and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate and highly complex laboratory testing.
• Test hematology, microbiology, molecular, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis.
• Calibrate and perform quality control checks for all types of instrumentation.
• Perform routine laboratory maintenance on all types of laboratory instrumentation.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain samples for laboratory testing.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment.
• Collect data, prepare reports, and compile statistics as directed.
• Follows OSHA guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.

Job description

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs all phases of pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical testing in the laboratory and is responsible for performing routine procedures including preparing slides.

• Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm, Friday - 11:00am-9:30pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform waived, moderate and highly complex laboratory testing.
  • Testing conducted includes hematology, microbiology, molecular, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis
  • Methods include manual kit tests, fully automated analyzers and microscopy
  • Testing performed on blood, urine and other body fluids
• Follow all policy and procedures established by Laboratory Director and Management team.
• Perform calibration and quality control checks for all types of instrumentation.
• Perform routine laboratory maintenance on all types of laboratory instrumentation.
• Perform unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on all instrumentation.
• Ensure accurate results prior to reporting.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures such as preparing slides.
• Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain samples for laboratory testing.
• Assist with supply inventory.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment.
• Collect data, prepare reports, answer correspondence and compile statistics as directed.
• Analyze proficiency testing material and submit results.
• Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
• Fulfill continuing education requirement by completing written assignments or attending workshops.
• Follows OSHA guidelines
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required: Knowledge of current medical terminology as it relates to laboratory medicine
• Required: Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and testing to perform quality control, calibration and troubleshooting of instrumentation

Education, Licensures & Certifications

• Required: ASCP or equivalent certification as an MLT and/or A.A.S in Medical Laboratory Technology
