The East Clinical Laboratory provides comprehensive, time‑sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The laboratory performs Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, various Manual Testing, Rapid COVID, Rapid Influenza, Manual Body Fluid and CSF cell counts and differentials, as well as Transfusion Services and Central Processing. It offers training for new staff and medical technology students and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Medical Laboratory Technician performs routine automated and manual procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results, and manages phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection, and testing frequency. The technician uses the laboratory computer system to review reports and calls critical values to various healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include performing and documenting quality control, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance on instrumentation, as well as providing training for new staff and medical technology students. Medical Laboratory Technologists work under the direction of the Lab Manager or Lead Technologist.
