Job summary

UF Health, part of the University of Florida system, seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a range of MLS procedures and operate analyzers to support diagnosis and treatment. The role includes maintaining quality control and interprofessional collaboration in patient care.

Required are a MLS/Medical Technology/biology degree and state licensure, plus 1 year of relevant clinical or hospital lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, or related field is required for new hires after Oct 1, 2022.
• 1 year of MLS NAACLS-approved program experience or 1 year as a Technologist in a hospital laboratory.
• Florida Technologist License in appropriate area(s) is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of MLS procedures requiring technical knowledge and skill.
• Operate laboratory analyzers to provide critical data for treatment and diagnosis.
• Make independent judgments in reporting normal and abnormal test results.
• Perform and analyze quality control data.
• Evaluate and research new techniques/equipment; instruct students and employees.
• Interact with nursing and health care practitioners.
• Provide excellent customer service.
