Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca, NY is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Lab Scientist to join our team. Analyze and test specimens, operate and troubleshoot equipment, and ensure quality control in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent) required.
• ASCP or equivalent registration as Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist required.
• NYS Department of Health licensure as Clinical Lab Scientist required.
• Prior laboratory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and test specimens, including proficiency testing and manual procedures, and report appropriately according to protocol.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex equipment.
• Utilize complex information systems; collect and interpret data.
• Perform and interpret quality control.
• Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, NYS, TJC, HIPAA standards, infection control and safety guidelines.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities and maintain inter-and intra-departmental work flow by cooperating with others.
• Maintain adequate inventory and conserve resources.
