Labcorp in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Medical Technologist I to join the Special Chemistry team. You will perform routine and complex procedures, ensure accuracy of test results, and support the laboratory in delivering high-quality patient care.

Requires a bachelor's in chemical/biological science and 1 year of clinical lab testing (MLS acceptable). ASCP/AMT certification preferred; overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
• One year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred
• Two years clinical testing experience preferred

Responsabilités

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs
• Resolve pendings
• Retrieve and check specimens against pending list
• Document specimen discrepancies
• Notify laboratory management when specimen discrepancies are not resolved
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE
• Comply with regulatory guidelines and Labcorp SOPs

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
• One year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP or AMT certification
• Two years clinical testing experience

Additional Job Standards

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
