Job summary

Allied Search Partners, a Detroit-based healthcare staffing firm, seeks a Medical Technologist I for the STAT Lab during the Evening shift. Under general supervision, you will perform quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient specimens and prepare results for rapid reporting.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, are ASCP/NCA/AMT/CSMLS eligible within 12 months, and have 0–1 year of acute-care lab experience with licensure as required by state.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent (military training included).
  • Registered or registry eligible with ASCP/NCA/AMT/CSMLS within 12 months of hire.
  • 0–1 year of experience as a medical laboratory technologist in an acute care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient specimens according to standard formulas and procedures.
  • Analyze test results, prepare samples for testing, and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare and validate solutions, reagents, media stains, and other materials used in testing.
  • Process and test all types of laboratory specimens, with emphasis on STAT samples and prompt results.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to support urgent patient care needs.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs quantitative and qualitative laboratory test on patient specimens according to standard laboratory formulas and procedures. Analyzes test results and prepares samples for testing. Calculates test findings and maintains records. Prepares and determines validity of solutions, reagents, media stains and various materials in the testing process.

Processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operational duties, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource to other laboratory personnel.

  • Perform operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Act as a resource to other laboratory personnel, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to support urgent patient care needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent (including military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489).
  • Registered or registry eligible with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire).
  • Prefer 6 months to 1 year of experience as a medical laboratory technologist or clinical laboratory scientist in an acute care facility.
  • Equivalency evaluation required for non-US trained personnel (ECE, NACES, or AICE within 30 days of hire).
  • Licensure as required by the State.
Required Skill
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret and analyze test results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with physicians and staff.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate laboratory equipment and closely examine specimens.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instruments.
