Job summary

West River Health Services is a rural Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic in southwestern North Dakota seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform laboratory testing and quality control across patient populations.

The role requires a BS in Medical Technology/MLS, national board registration, North Dakota licensure, and completion of an MLS internship, with rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, CLS, or MLS.
• Registered Medical Technologist (MT, CLS, MLS) with ASCP or equivalent.
• Licensed by the North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
• Medical Technologist internship completed.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab testing and quality control per written procedures.
• Collect specimens (venipuncture, capillary, arterial, urine, culture).
• Report results appropriately by patient population; manage critical values.
• Follow safety protocols for hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens.
• Rotate through departments, shifts, on-call, and holiday schedules as needed.
