UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our Laboratory Services team. The role performs a variety of tests across major lab areas, ensuring accurate results and maintaining instrument and log integrity.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, LIS experience preferred, and at least three years of related lab experience. Certification is valued, with CLIA high-complexity eligibility required.

Under the general supervision of the area Section Heads and Laboratory Supervisor and according to established policies and procedures performs a variety of laboratory tests and reports data for the use in diagnosis and treatment of patients. May perform procedures across the major areas of the laboratory or concentrate in one area such as Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology or Microbiology. No supervision is required for specimen processing or reporting of patient test results.

Bachelor's degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology.
Preferred:
ASCP certification as an MT is preferred.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Must Qualify as a General Supervisor under the CLIA regulations for high-complexity testing under 42 CFR 493.1461 with either a bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory sciences or medical technology from an accredited institution, PLUS 1 year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing.
Also acceptable is an associate degree in a laboratory science or MLT from an accredited institution, with at least 2 years of laboratory training/experience in high complexity testing. Performs low, moderate and/or high complexity testing as required.
