Job summary

LabCorp in Tampa, FL is seeking a Technologist to join our team. Schedule: 4x10 shifts, 2pm–12:30am. You will determine specimen acceptability, perform routine and complex testing, and monitor instrumentation to ensure accurate results that support quality patient care.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science with MT/FL license and comfort working in a high-volume laboratory environment. We value accuracy, reliability, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology MT FL State License.
  • Strong knowledge of lab operations, procedures and CLIA standards.
  • Experience in high-volume laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex procedures according to SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate test results to ensure quality patient care.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

LabCorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Tampa, FL. Work Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (4x10) 2pm to 12:30am

Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology Microbiology MT FL State License
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
