Description

Kindred Hospital Rancho is a 55‑bed long‑term acute care hospital offering the same in‑depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. We partner with your physician and offer 24‑hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. For those who need special care, we offer an eight‑bed ICU and three negative‑pressure rooms. We are located near downtown Rancho Cucamonga just off of Foothill Boulevard with close proximity to many shops and restaurants.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs and reports routine and special laboratory tests on clinical specimens to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients.

Essential Functions

• Performs analyses in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, blood bank and microbiology according to expected performance standards.
• Performs venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick on identified patients by physician's request in a timely, accurate and caring manner.
• Keeps documented records current regarding maintenance and quality control.
• Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either corrects the problems or immediately notifies the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.
• Follows the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Expectations

• Comprehensive knowledge of applicable safety, quality control, and specimen handling guidelines and procedures.
• Skilled in using applicable laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, meters, microscopes, incubators, pipettes, autoclaves, and sterilizers.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately when under strict deadlines.
• Considerable knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical laboratory methods and instrumentation. Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, laboratory medicine, disease processes, and laboratory procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected.
• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Must have good and regular attendance.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $44.12-$55.95/hr.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.

Licenses / Certifications

• Current license issued by the State in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a nationally recognized agency or board preferred.

Experience

• 1-2 years of acute care hospital lab experience in high complexity testing preferred.
