Job summary

Covenant Health's Fort Loudoun Medical Center in Lenoir City, TN is seeking a Medical Technologist for a PRN/OCC daytime shift in the General Laboratory to support patient care.

The MT will perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, interpret results for physicians, and maintain accurate records and quality controls.

Applicants must have Tennessee licensure as a medical technologist; ASCP certification is preferred, and a minimum of six months of experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets tests and performs appropriate testing.
• Prepares sterile media for bacterial cultures; reads cultures.
• Analyzes blood, body fluids and parasites.
• Maintains required records, reports and statistics as directed.
• Performs quality control and media processing.
• Educates others as necessary.
• Performs equipment maintenance as needed.
• Demonstrates competency in scope of care provided for all age groups (ranging from newborn through geriatric).
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually.

Medical Technologist, General Laboratory

PRN/OCC, Day Shift

Position Summary:

The MT performs routine and specialized clinical lab tests for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by physicians. Uses judgement from educational background to give the physician information to diagnose and treat illnesses.

• Performs equipment maintenance as needed.
• Demonstrates competency in scope of care provided for all age groups (ranging from newborn through geriatric), therapeutic needs, and diagnostic groups in any mode of contact warranted for clinical lab services.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience

Six (6) months experience

Licensure Requirement

Must have and maintain Tennessee State medical technologist licensure. ASCP preferred.
