Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform technical procedures in a busy central lab, including emergency and routine patient testing and quality control.

The role may require supervisory qualifications per CLIA and shift coverage for Central Lab Microbiology, Blood Bank, and Stat Microbiology. The position requires a BS in MT/MLS or equivalent, with ABHES/NAACLS or ASCP credentials preferred, and at least five years in a licensed clinical laboratory.

Qualifications

• A BS and successful completion of an accredited MT/MLS program.
• A BS in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory-based Science including CLIA coursework.
• HHS sanctioned reviewer, ASCP accreditation or equivalent.
• 5 years experience in a licensed Clinical laboratory.
• M.T. or MLS (ASCP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the independent performance of technical procedures, including emergency and routine patient testing, quality control, and preventive maintenance.
• Participates in Quality management processes as needed. Qualifies as a General Supervisor designate, per CLIA, in the absence of the Section Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

• Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology and Urinalysis). Evening shift covers Central Lab Microbiology; Night shift staff is required to cover Blood Bank and Stat Microbiology.

Salary Information

Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
