Basic Requirements

• Certification: Candidates must currently possess one of the appropriate certifications as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) granted by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP Board of Certification or ASCP Board of Registry) - American Medical Technologists - or American Association of Bioanalysts

• Independently performs difficult specialized high-complexity tasks in the following areas advanced blood banking (antibody titers - elutions) - molecular microbiology and PCR testing in addition to generalist testing in hematology - chemistry - urinalysis and coagulation

• Evaluates the suitability of blood and body fluid specimens for analysis - requests new specimens if determined to be unusable
• Prepares specimens for analysis - ensuring that the physiologic state of the specimen properties is maintained
