About the Position:

This position serves as a Certified Medical Assistant in a Medical Treatment Facility. This position is responsible for clinical and administrative tasks to support doctors, nurses, and patients by assisting with some patient care and office administration.

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes direct patient care services administering immunizations and medications ordered by the health care providers; collecting and recording patient vital signs data; utilizing electronic health record system to enter and retrieve patient information and schedule appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Education:

Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as Nursing (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

**A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification or a Registered Medical Assistant Certification is required.**

All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.**
