Job summary

This position is located in the Directorate for Clinical Support, Department of Pathology, Core Laboratory Division at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience in performing testing procedures in a clinical laboratory; calibrating or maintaining clinical laboratory instruments; preparing samples for testing; and documenting results through clinical laboratory automated systems.
• One full year of graduate level education in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related health science fields (transcripts required).
• Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify as long as the computed percentage is at least 100%, calculated by dividing months of experience by 12 and graduate hours by 9.

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes performing testing procedures in a clinical laboratory; calibrating or maintaining clinical laboratory instruments; preparing samples for testing; and documenting results through clinical laboratory automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education

One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Microbiology or other related health science fields. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
