Job summary

The CFG Health Systems, LLC is seeking a Certified Nurse Aide to deliver quality medication administration services within scope of practice and company protocols. This role requires documenting administrations, monitoring for adverse effects, and reporting variations to the supervising RN/LPN.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with ECGs, pre-packaging medications, and ensuring safety, HIPAA, and infection control standards are met.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and CNA certification required.
  • 1-2 years CNA experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Completion of medication certification.
  • Knowledge of state laws governing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications by multiple routes and document administration.
  • Document adverse effects, refusals, and counseling.
  • Pre-package medications outside the medical unit as required.
  • Count controlled substances with RN/LPN oversight.
  • Communicate concerns to RN/LPN regarding safety.
  • Report medication errors to RN/LPN.
  • Take and document vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Assist with ECGs when needed.
  • Adhere to safety policies and participate in drills.
  • Maintain security for keys, sharps, and controlled meds.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARYDelivers quality medication administration services consistent within the scope of practice and adhering to established company protocols.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESAdministration of medication by the following routes: oral, rectal, vaginal, optic, ophthalmic, nasal, topical, transdermal, buccal, sublingual, aerosol, nebulizer, and oral metered dose inhalersDocument medication administration, side effects of medication, refusals, and counselingPre-package medications for administration in areas outside the medical unit as requiredCount controlled substances with oversight by an RN or LPNCommunicate with RN/LPN regarding medication concerns such as adverse effects, non-compliance, or potential safety issuesReporting of medication errors or potential medication errors to RN/LPNProvides safe and effective care and assumes responsibility for the care deliveredTakes and documents vital signs, height, and weightAssists with electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs)Measures and records intake and outputSchedules appointmentsAdheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medicationsPerforms other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSHigh School DiplomaCertified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification required1-2 years of CNA experience preferredCurrent basic life support (BLS) certification requiredCompletion of medication certification from an accredited programKnowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practiceFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.FUNCTIONAL DEMANDSAbility to pass all required health and other screening testsMay be required to work nights, weekends, and holidaysOn-call duty may be required (available to work on short notice)ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONSProvides a positive and professional representation of CFG Health Systems, LLC.Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and preventionMaintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practiceAdheres to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulationsParticipate in ongoing quality improvement activitiesCompletes required orientation as directed by the facilityFollows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignmentFollows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence ProtocolUpholds HIPAA and PREA regulationsPunctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shiftsMaintains security clearance for the assigned facilityPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
