Wellstar Health System seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform clinical laboratory testing under supervision, ensuring accuracy and adherence to approved protocols. The role requires interpreting lab data, maintaining instrumentation, and supporting QA and compliance with safety standards.

Under the general supervision of the Supervisors, Manager or Director; performs clinical laboratory testing pursuant to established and approved protocols requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, maintains equipment and records, performs quality assurance activities related to test performance and may supervise and teach within the laboratory setting. Accuracy: Maintains acceptable accuracy in‑patient, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency testing. Critical Thinking: Uses clinical/theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret, and report lab data. Job Knowledge: Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and procedures. Productivity: Practices organizational skills for efficiency of time, materials, cost, and availability of lab data. Communication: Practices information monitoring, investigation, resolution, and hand‑off to team members. Performs other duties as assigned.
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Persons who possess the technologist qualifications and have recently moved into the state and certified by that state (with NY, FL, CA license) or have recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements from an accredited MLS program may be temporarily classified once as technologists for eighteen (18) months to afford the persons an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1 1/2 years required.
Minimum 1 year Laboratory experience required.
Computer/data entry experience. Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team. Ability to use EXCEL, Word and have basic computer operational knowledge. Epic experience preferred.
